Laurie Holden has just been announced as a special guest for Florida Supercon 2013! 
Heather Laurie Holden is an actress and human rights activist. She is perhaps best known for her roles as Andrea on The Walking Dead, Marita Covarrubias on The X-Files, Adele Stanton on The Majestic, Cybil Bennett on Silent Hill, Amanda Dumfries on The Mist and Olivia Murray on The Shield.
The stepdaughter of veteran film director Michael Anderson, Holden traveled the world with her family growing up on various locations and got her first break as Rock Hudson's daughter in Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles (1980). Holden was raised in Canada, spent her freshman year at McGill University, then transferred to UCLA to do a BA in Theatre Arts. She is the recipient of the prestigious Natalie Wood Acting Award. She is currently enrolled at Columbia University where she is acquiring her Master of Human Rights degree. Holden has starred in numerous television and film projects and has received worldwide critical acclaim and honorable recognition for her diverse and eclectic choice of roles.
Early in her career, Holden made a name for herself by costarring opposite Vanessa Redgrave in the TNT miniseries Young Catherine. Later, she also found some success on the small screen, playing a memorable recurring role on the seminal sci-fi series The X-Files, that of Marita Covarrubias, a mysterious government worker who becomes an informant to Special Agent Fox Mulder starting in the fourth season of that show through the final one (1996-2002). She also had a supporting role, as Mary Travis, opposite Michael Biehn and Ron Perlman in the remake of the MGM classic The Magnificent Seven (1998-2000) for CBS. Holden's most notable roles include starring opposite Jim Carrey in Frank Darabont's film The Majestic. Her memorable roles are in such hits as Fantastic Four (where she played Michael Chiklis' love interest), playing cult hero Cybil Bennett in Christophe Gans' artistic-horror video game adaptation of Silent Hill, and co-starring as Amanda Dumfries opposite Marcia Gay Harden and Thomas Jane in Stephen King's The Mist. Holden recently starred as Olivia Murray in FX's critically acclaimed series The Shield and is now one of the stars of AMC's critically acclaimed The Walking Dead, based on the graphic novel.”

Florida Supercon is thrilled to announce George Takei as a Guest of Honor for our 2013 show!
George Takei is an american icon, best known for his portrayal of Mr. Sulu in Star Trek and in recent years as a social media superstar! George has appeared in more than 40 feature films and has hundreds of television guest-starring roles to his credit. He is a regular guest on The Howard Stern Show, currently co-stars of the Nickelodeon series Supah Ninjas, recently appeared on Celebrity Apprentice and was one of the co-stars of the NBC series Heroes. He has lent his voice to numerous cartoons such as Adventure Time, Futurama, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Chowder, Scooby-Doo, Transformers: Animated Series, Transformers Prime, Archer, Super Hero Squad, Fish Hooks, Batman Beyond, Kim Possible, Mulan and Mulan II. George and Tony Award winner Lea Salonga have recently premiered a new musical called "Allegiance" at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, which is getting prepared for a run on Broadway. As an author, George co-wrote (with Robert Asprin) a science-fiction novel, Mirror Friend, Mirror Foe in 1979. As well, his autobiography, To the Star was published in 1994 and his latest book is Oh, Myyy! There goes the internet was published in 2012. Bob Layton has just been announced as a special guest for Florida Supercon 2013! 
Bob Layton has, for all intents and purposes, done it all in the comics industry. As writer, artist, inker, editor, editor in chief, creator, Bob has been a major name in the comic book field for over 30 years. He is known as the definitive artist of Iron Man, having re-imagined the character in 1978 with writing partner David Michelinie and then, years later, Bob and David came back to Iron Man to revitalize it once more, first with the revolutionary Silver Centurion armor design and then, with the wildly-successful story arc—"Armor Wars". Bob also launched the first mini-series in comics' history at Marvel with his highly-praised Hercules—Prince of Power. That series, which Bob Layton wrote and drew, spawned a successful sequel and a graphic novel. Layton also revived the original X-Men characters at Marvel with his groundbreaking series--X-Factor. While at Marvel, Bob designed the highly-successful Marvel Secret Wars toy line for Mattel. Second only to his tenure on Iron Man, Bob is also known for his innovative contributions to the Valiant Comics line-- first as co-architect of the Valiant Universe, and then, as Editor-in-Chief and Senior Vice President.

February 5, 2013 Sgt Slaughter has just been announced as a special guest for Florida Supercon 2013! After serving in the United States Military, Sgt Slaughter entered the world of professional wrestling and experienced his first major success in the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). During the late 1970s, Sarge worked in the American Wrestling Association (AWA) with managers Lord Alfred Hayes and Bobby Heenan before signing with the WWF in 1980. He quickly became the number one contender to WWF Champion Bob Backlund based on the strength of his "cobra clutch". In late 1981, Slaughter joined Mid Atlantic Wrestling, winning several titles before returning to the WWF in 1983, where he once again feuded with WWF Champion Backlund. In 1984, Sgt Slaughter engaged in a legendary feud with the Iron Sheik which culminated in a boot camp match at a sold out Madison Square Garden that summer.
![]() The Sarge spent 1985 - 1990 mostly with the American Wrestling Association (AWA), becoming the AWA America's Heavyweight Champion, defeating Larry Zbyszko shortly after his arrival. He returned to the WWF once again in 1990, where he defeated The Ultimate Warrior for the WWF Championship at the 1991 Royal Rumble. Slaughter took a hiatus from the WWF fron 1993 until 1997 where he returned as the commissioner of the WWF, a role he served until late 1998. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2004 by long-time friend Pat Patterson and has continued to make appearances in the WWF over the last several years. Sgt Slaughter has been honored by being invited to the White House by President's Clinton, Bush, Reagan, and Carter. The ultimate distinction bestowed upon him was having the American Flag flown over our Nation's Capitol in recognition of his achievements.
