Cary Elwes is coming to Florida Supercon!
Cary is best known for his roles in "The Princess Bride" (Westley), "Robin Hood: Men In Tights" (Robin Hood) and "SAW" (Dr. Lawrence Gordon). He is currently hard at work as one of the lead cast members of the new "Wonder Woman" TV series and is also known for his roles in "Psych", "The X-Files", "Twister", "Kiss The Girls", "Glory", "Hot Shots!", "The Crush", "Days of Thunder", "Shadow of the Vampire" and "Liar, Liar".
Cary started his film career in "Another Country" with Rupert Everett and Colin Firth followed by "Lady Jane", costarring Helena Bonham Carter. His performance in that film led director Rob Reiner to cast Elwes in another leading role, this time as the stable boy turned swashbuckler Westley in the "The Princess Bride".
His film career continued in "The Bride", "Glory" and "Hot Shots!". In 1993, he starred as Robin Hood in Mel Brooks' comedy, "Robin Hood: Men in Tights". Elwes also starred in "Bram Stoker's Dracula", "The Crush", "Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book", "Twister", "Liar Liar", "Cradle Will Rock", "The Cat's Meow" and "Kiss the Girls". In 2004, he starred in the horror/thriller "Saw" as Dr. Lawrence Gordon. The same year he appeared in "Ella Enchanted". In 2007, he appeared in "Georgia Rule". In 2009 Elwes worked on two performance capture films, "Robert Zemeckis' A Christmas Carol" and "The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn" directed by Steven Spielberg. He also starred in the mystery thriller "Shadows", the psychological thriller "Psych 9" and returned to the Saw franchise in "Saw 3D", the seventh film in the series, as Dr. Lawrence Gordon. In January 2010, it was announced that Elwes had been chosen to portray George Harrison in Robert Zemeckis' 3-D performance capture re-telling of "Yellow Submarine".
In 1996, Elwes made his first TV appearance on "Seinfeld". In 1998, he played astronaut Michael Collins in the Golden Globe Award-winning HBO miniseries "From the Earth To the Moon". In 1999, he starred in "The Outer Limits". He earned two Golden Satellite Award nominations for the TV films "The Pentagon Wars" and "Uprising". Elwes had a recurring role in the final season of "The X-Files" as FBI Assistant Director Brad Follmer. In 2004, he played serial killer Ted Bundy in the A&E TV-movie "The Riverman" and "I Hunt for the Green River Killer". In 2005 Elwes played young Pope John Paul II in the CBS telefilm "Pope John Paul II". In 2009, he played the role of Pierre Despereaux, an international art thief, in the 4th season premiere of "Psych". In 2010, he returned to "Psych", reprising his role in the second half of the 5th season. In 2011, Cary Elwes was cast as Henry Demeter/Henry Johns, CEO Themyscira Industries, founded by Diana Prince (Adrianne Palicki) in new "Wonder Woman" series.
Elwes' voice-over work includes characters in film and television animations such as "Quest for Camelot", "Pinky and The Brain", "Batman Beyond", and the English versions of the highly popular Studio Ghibli films "Porco Rosso", "Whisper of the Heart" and "The Cat Returns". For the 2004 video game "The Bard's Tale", he served as scriptwriter, improviser, and voice actor of the main character The Bard.
